About the Author
Hannah Shatzen found inspiration to write her debut children's book, Bodega Baby, after falling in love with her own neighborhood bodega on the corner of 15th and 8th avenue in New York City. She further grounds her story in an ode to her Puerto Rican grandmother, as bodegas were largely started by Puerto Ricans who migrated to New York in the years after WWII. When Hannah is not writing, she spends the majority of her time leading marketing efforts at a large technology company (that you might be able to Google), listening to her husband Willie Lock's country rock music, and of course, staying busy by being an aunt to three nephews, one niece, and another on the way.
